On the GameJam Theme: Built to Scale

This year's theme, Built to Scale, was integrated into From My Grill to God's Lips in several ways:

1. The primary implementation of the theme was through the stacking mechanic. As you complete each order, the requirement for the next stack grows and grows, resulting in comically tall burger stacks that you then feed to an increasingly large GOD.
2. To aid in stacking these towering burgers, players can upgrade their ingredients and "scale them up." Stack tomatoes as thick as tires!
3. While this may be a bit of a stretch, the gameplay itself also scales up, as you must produce more and more ingredients for each burger to keep the stack growing.

Assets

• All code, visuals, models, and burgers were lovingly hand-crafted in my home kitchen for the GMTK 2024 GameJam.
  
• In-game music was sustainably sourced from the Library of Congress, with title music and sound effects slow-roasted over an open Audacity by my humble burger artisan, AgedBlaine.
• Fair-trade voice work was imported from C.L. Neal.
• Special thanks to shift manager Citrus, and my business partner Cellardour for keeping the lights on.

If I had more time

• I didn’t manage to include every feature I envisioned, but I’m quite happy with where the game stands as a complete experience. Some things I didn’t get to: high score tracking, animations and environmental objects to better illustrate ingredient scaling, and improved chopping animations.
• If I continue working on this, I'd love to add more ingredients, more variety, and ways to scale up your production.
